Six Sigma Jobs – Finding the Best Jobs

Six Sigma is quickly becoming one of the most popular management approaches around. In fact, it is quickly becoming commonplace as an HR approach for companies of all sizes. And with good reason: Six Sigma courses have been proven to help companies lower expenses, improve quality and boost worker productivity. But there are plenty of Six Sigma Black Belt jobs available, with a wide range of job description and pay. If you’re interested in these belts — and the money they bring — read on.

The first level of Six Sigma training deals with the basics. You will receive training on statistical methods and data analysis. However, you will not receive Six Sigma Black Belt certification until after you have taken at least one year of classes and passed the six sigma master’s degree. Master’s degrees are earned at the Graduate level and are quite intensive.

In addition to black belt training, you will also need to complete an apprenticeship. Apprentices will learn the necessary skills to become a black belt. They will also work with experienced professionals to gain real-world working experience and build their job skills. This apprenticeship will often last between one and three months, and the length of time will depend upon your level of training. However, Six Sigma black belts will generally complete their apprenticeships in half the time of those with shorter training periods. (Six Sigma, by the way, is an acronym for six sigma modules.)

Once you have completed a short apprenticeship and have received six sigma certification, you can apply for full-fledged Six Sigma Black Belt jobs. The main contenders for such positions are project managers and quality leaders. Project managers lead teams of employees in implementing and improving company goals. They coordinate projects from the top down and ensure that they are timely and successful. Quality leaders, meanwhile, head up quality teams within the company.

Project managers typically oversee the implementation of a company’s strategy and identify bottlenecks. Quality leaders, meanwhile, improve the overall quality of the manufacturing process by defining standards and defining policies. Project managers and quality leaders can either work on independent teams or in teams that are based in similar areas. Six Sigma black belt jobs are available for managers and leaders who have taken the Six Sigma program and have received six sigma certifications.

Six Sigma Black Belts does not work in management or in the ranks of employees at the top of the food chain. Instead, they are employed by the very people they hope will benefit from their training: consumers. Six Sigma Black Belts is responsible for training staff in proper record-keeping, customer service, and product quality. If a Black Belt is able to effectively lead, develop, and coordinate staff, they can oversee the creation of marketing strategies, Six Sigma projects, training programs, and Six Sigma black belt jobs.

While the positions detailed above do require the completion of a certain amount of training, Six Sigma certification also is a prerequisite. The majority of companies that hire for Six Sigma Black Belt jobs do so specifically because of the six sigma certification. However, some companies hire for a Black Belt without requiring additional training because they believe that employees already possess the necessary skills and knowledge for the job. Employers should always make sure that candidates applying for a position are certified. It’s better to be safe than sorry. The risk of losing a large amount of money or creating an undesirable workplace atmosphere is significantly greater with the potential return on investment of a six sigma trained employee.

There are many Six Sigma job openings both within the private sector and in the government. There are also a number of opportunities for full-time six sigma certified professionals and part-time six sigma certified professionals. With the current economic recession and the increase of unemployment, Six Sigma training is growing in popularity and has become more readily available. When you take the time to complete a six sigma course, you will be able to provide your company with the knowledge and training it needs to improve its operations and make its workers more productive. By choosing to become certified in six sigma, you will not only improve your pay grade and development opportunities, but you will also be helping to protect the interests of your employer and ensure that you receive a competitive salary and benefits package as well.
