Six Sigma Certification in Training and Development

When people ask me what is Six Sigma, they have a tough time understanding the process. To put it simply, Six Sigma is a disciplined methodology to maximize productivity, quality, and profitability. If you are wondering what Six Sigma certification in training and development can do for you, I’ll be upfront and tell you that it can do pretty much anything you want it to. But the problem most people come up to me and ask about is whether or not they should take my Six Sigma certification. You see, there are a lot of misconceptions out there and a lot of people who don’t really understand what Six Sigma Certification does. Let’s take a closer look at six sigma certification in training and development and whether or not it’s right for you.

The first misconception is that six sigma certification in training and development is only for those in the manufacturing industry. This is a bit of a misnomer, however, because a lot of companies use Six Sigma in their operations and processes. For instance, automobile manufacturers utilize Six Sigma in making their cars more fuel efficient, because Six Sigma metrics can tell the car makers exactly where improvements need to be made. Likewise, hospitals and other health care facilities also use Six Sigma. In fact, the military uses Six Sigma techniques for all of its activities, from the development of weapons to the training of its soldiers. The bottom line is that you don’t necessarily need to be manufacturing or work in the manufacturing industry to benefit from Six Sigma.

The second misconception is that Six Sigma is just for the white belt level employees in an office. Again, this is a big misconception. The truth is that Six Sigma can benefit even the greenest of employees. Green employees at any level of an organization can greatly benefit from training and development courses in six sigma certification in training and development. This includes supervisors and upper-level employees, as well as those in the customer service areas of call center and human resources. Employees in the finance department can also take advantage of Six Sigma techniques, as can employees in accounting and administration.

Another common myth is that most Six Sigma courses are not appropriate for upper level management positions, or for business managers. This is simply not true. The principles that are taught in Six Sigma training can benefit upper level management positions and business managers. Additionally, lower level employees can greatly benefit from such training, as well.

Another common myth is that Six Sigma employees are over trained or undereducated. In fact, the opposite is true. Six Sigma courses are designed so that employees can learn at their own pace. This allows employees to continue learning on their own without feeling as if they are being punished for taking too much time in a classroom environment. By doing so, Six Sigma employees are able to retain the information that they need to perform better and increase profitability during business operations.

There is one myth that needs to be dispelled straight away: Six Sigma is a job killer. This myth has been proven wrong by Six Sigma employees themselves. With the development of Six Sigma, employees find that they are more engaged with their work and with doing what is expected of them instead of just hitting the quota. This increased level of productivity often leads to increased profitability for businesses and lower costs as well. Therefore, a business that adopting the Six Sigma methodology will see a significant decrease in employee turnover rates as well as, on average, increase profits and lower overhead costs.

The process of obtaining a Six Sigma certification will require you to complete an online training and development course. Upon completion of this training and development program, you will be given a Six Sigma Green Belt certification. Once certified, you will then be able to take the necessary Six Sigma Green Belt exams in order to gain your Master Black Belt certification. Once you have the Master Black Belt certification, you will gain access to the Black Belt Master level which consists of one hundred and eighty trainings, and two hundred and fifty seminars, videos and other resources.

The Six Sigma methodology is based upon the idea that any change that is made to an organization will be reflected in the overall performance of the organization. If a company makes changes, whether good or bad, these changes are made throughout the entire organization because the company is no longer focused on the small details that were once the small focus of that particular employee. A Six Sigma Green Belt will thus be focused upon providing his employees with the tools, training and development resources needed to work towards a common goal. In the end, employees who have taken the time to become certified Six Sigma Black Belts are much more able to contribute to and benefit the organization as a whole. These employees will enjoy a higher level of job satisfaction as well as increased profitability.
