There are many more different areas that you can take my six sigma certification for, but these were the two most important and required classes that all candidates must successfully complete. This of course varies according to the company you work for and the requirements of the role that you are applying for. Most companies take the time to go through a process before accepting an applicant’s application, and there will be a selection committee that carefully reviews any credentials that are brought to the table. However, when you apply for an official Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Master Black Belt, you must have all of the required qualifications to ensure that you will be accepted.
When I talk about Six Sigma Black Belt Responsibilities, I am talking about those that work on projects within the Six Sigma Process. Typically, Black Belts take more of a leadership role within the projects and work closely with department managers to ensure that everything runs smoothly and that goals are met within a specific time period. Generally, Black Belts have several years of experience in a field, such as Information Security, before they become eligible for certification. When you take my six sigma certification, you will be prepared to enter into one of these top positions, and be ready to apply what you have learned within your education.
When I talk about Six Sigma Black Belt Responsibilities, I am talking about those that work in groups within the Six Sigma Process. You will find that most of the department managers and office managers have a Six Sigma Certification or know someone that does. Once you receive your six sigma certification, you should then be ready to enter into one of these groups. As previously mentioned, there will be a selection committee that reviews all applications, and once you are selected, you will be ready to begin working. Six Sigma Black Belts work on projects throughout the process, and you will need to be ready to complete the projects that come your way.
Six Sigma Green Belt Responsibilities consists of doing just that, but with less education than the six sigma black belt. The six sigma green belts will actually do the actual analysis, while the black belts will do the training and supervise. You will be responsible for implementing the ideas that have been presented to you, so make sure that you understand them and put them into practice. The role of the green belt is more leadership oriented, so make sure that you have leadership skills, as well. Some Six Sigma Projects requires you to go out and recruit a team of testers, and this is where the Six Sigma Green Belt will come into play. With their certification, they will be able to recruit other staff members that will be involved with the implementation process as well.
A six sigma black belt will need to supervise the testing staff, and will have many responsibilities for the project as a whole. You may also be required to supervise the entire process, and once a project is complete, they will take the Six Sigma Green Belt title. These projects are usually smaller and not as involved as the larger ones, so it will be easier to get projects done.
A six sigma green belt is able to get more involvement in the process, and is usually promoted once they have a few projects under their belt. You will be promoted based on how much you have helped your team members, as well as on how well you have completed each project. The better your team perform, the higher up you will be promoted, until you become an actual black belt.
Once you have reached the level of black belt, there are still a lot of opportunities open for you within the company. You might be offered management positions that will allow you more influence over employees, or you could be involved with specific Six Sigma Projects from outside the company. No matter what position you end up taking, you should always keep your Six Sigma Black Belt certification up to date, so that everyone else knows what is expected of them. This will ensure that you are always prepared and capable and will get you further than you would have been on your own.
